Tie Dye in Art

Yesterday was tie dye day in Art, a favorite every year! In first grade students use red and yellow dye, which they know will mix to make orange.

After the demonstration, everyone got to work swirling, banding and dying!

Many th als to all the parent volunteers who made this possible along with the PTA for donating all of the supplies! I can't wait for the big reveal to see how everything tuened out!

Tens and ones

To practice regrouping, the student started playing a fun game called Race to 40!

Measuring using a start line

Today in math we practiced comparing more than two objects by lining them up along a "start line." We also ordered them from longest to shortest! What a great job everyone did! (Sorry I didn't catch everyone!)

Meteorologist

What a treat we had this morning, when WMUR's meteorologist Kevin Skarupa came to visit the first graders!

We learned about different types of clouds (including his favorite, lenticular clouds), how he uses computers and maps to make the forecast, rainbows and so much more!

Happy Valentines Day!

We had a wonderful afternoon creating our Kind Comment hearts. Though everyone loved creating, I think they had the most fun sharing their kind comments and reading all the nice things their classmates had to say. Thank you for helping at home with this project!

What started out as a pretty blank canvas...

...quickly was filled  with doillies, comments and stickers...

...and covered with glitter!

If your child's Kind Comment heart did not come home on Friday it will come home Tuesday once the glitter glue is dry.
