Fizz, boom, BANG!

Today the SEE Science Center came to do an in school presentation to show the first graders all the fun things you can do with science. Many thanks to the PTA for funding this fun and exciting event!

We learned about combustion, first with a turkey baster/ping pong cannon:
(I couldn't catch the ball in flight!)

Then we saw a bigger example of combustion:

We learned that scientists go through trial and error, make observations and have fun!

We saw some chemical reactions and the catalyst that causes it too, which was very exciting!

Field Trip

We had a wonderful field trip! First we went to the Hooksett Public Library to read a story, sing a song and explore the children's room with Miss Grace.

Then it was on to the Head School for a trip back in time to see what school was like in the 1800's!

What a fun filled morning we had!!!!

First Mrs. White demonstrated the steps:

After the demonstration, everyone got to work swirling, banding and dying!

Many th als to all the parent volunteers who made this possible along with the PTA for donating all of the supplies! I can't wait for the big reveal to see how everything tuened out!

Measuring using a start line

Today in math we practiced comparing more than two objects by lining them up along a "start line." We also ordered them from longest to shortest! What a great job everyone did! (Sorry I didn't catch everyone!)
