Gingerbread House fun!

Today the first grade teachers surprised the student with gingerbread house decorating.

Everyone had fun and we got a little messy too. The students got to choose their own seats and weren't all together so I missed a few students in the pictures--sorry! Hope you like the finished products they took home today!

Community Helpers

Over the past two days the first grade was lucky enough to have some local community helpers come in to teach the students a little bit about their jobs, and a few even brought tools they use in their jobs.

An EMT came and shared one of the machines they use in an ambulance.  Some students were able to help use it to test someone's blood pressure and pulse.

The fire Marshall took time out of his busy day checking roofs to talk about his job, and how it is different from a firefighter.

We had a detective from the Hillsborough county Sherriff department come share some of his tolls he uses to track down bad guys and keep our towns and cities safe!

As we are also learning about weather we were very lucky to have Kevin Skarupa from WMUR come teach us about what a meteorologist does.  He showed pictures of different computers at the news stations and what it looks like when he is doing a weather forecast.  He also said not to worry, we won't get too much snow tonight!

If you watch WMUR tomorrow morning at 6:45 you should see some smiling faces from Underhill!

Many thanks to all of the community helpers for taking time out of their busy schedules to help our students learn more about their jobs!
